Sariska National Park

About Sariska National Park

Sariska National Park, located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, India, is one of the country’s notable tiger reserves. Spread across about 881 square kilometres, the park features a striking mix of scrub-thorn arid forests, dry deciduous woodlands, open grasslands, and rugged rocky hills shaped by the Aravalli range. Historically, this landscape served as the royal hunting preserve of the former Alwar state. Recognising its ecological importance and rich wildlife, the area was formally protected and notified as a wildlife sanctuary in 1958, laying the foundation for its future role in tiger conservation and supporting sustainable tourism and local livelihoods.
